What Test Should We Take for Covid-19?

Covid-19 has been the world's number one agenda since the last period of 2019, and this is still the case.

There are different applications for testing, treatment and prevention in various countries in related to Covid-19.

One of the most important issues raised here is the Covid-19 tests.

Now let's look at the Covid-19 tests with their advantages and disadvantages:

1-PCR : It is a molecular test.

Construction Method : It is done by taking a crawl from the mouth or throat.

Result Period : 1-48 hours

Advantages : Especially 3-10. It is diagnosed at high percentages between days.

Disadvantages : It is a device-dependent test that needs to be done in a health center and with the help of health workers.

It can disturb people because of the way the creep sample is taken.

If the creep is not taken correctly, the results will be incorrect.

If the herd is not taken at the right time during the disease process (between 3rd-10th days), the result may be incorrect.

The virus may not be in the mouth and throat creep after it has landed in the lung, so it may give the wrong result.

There is a cross-reaction with other types of Corona viruses.

It doesn't tell you about the clinical progression of the disease.

2-ANTICKOR TESTS :

How it is made : It is done by taking it from the finger or arm.

Result Time : 15 minutes – 3 hours hours

Advantages : If done at the right time, it shows the presence of the disease and the formation of antibodies.

Disadvantages : In general, it is a device-dependent test that should be done in a health center and with the help of health workers. The confidence range of home quick test models is very limited.

The test should be done at the right time, especially since ig M and later igg positivity occurs and the igg that occurs decreases after a while. Otherwise, the result will be incorrect.

Antibody tests also have a cross-reaction (mixing with other viruses and other diseases).

3-ANTIGEN TESTS WITH SALIVA:

Construction Method : It is done by taking saliva.

Result Time : 15 minutes – 3 hours hours

Advantages : If done at the right time, it shows the presence of the disease and the formation of antigens.

Disadvantages : In general, it is a device-dependent test that should be done in a health center and with the help of health workers.

Virus density in saliva may not always be equal, which can lead to incorrect results.

If the saliva is not taken at the right time, it may result in the wrong result.

It may give the wrong result due to the fragmentatory effect of proteolytic enzymes contained in salivary.

Some other infections, medications used, may result in incorrect results due to the de-saliva of some other markers contained in the serum.

It doesn't tell you about the clinical progression of the disease.

4-URINE FOAMING TEST :

Construction Method : Made with urine sample.

Result Time : 15 seconds – 1 minute

Advantages : Unlike all other tests, it shows the virus load in the body.

It's easy to do and interpret.

That everyone can do it alone and anywhere.

Showing the clinical picture of the disease from the process of diagnosis.

Disadvantages : Positive test for severe kidney damage caused by protein excretion.
